The Sunroom Leacock's
original work table is found in situ, where he attended
daily to business correspondence and the estate's accounts.
The solarium roof has been restored and the original glazing
replaced with archival quality UV filtering glass to protect the
art and artifacts on display.
Situated to the south of the Sunroom is the Sundial Terrace, where
in 1929 Leacock hand inscribed in the sundial's base, Horas
Brevas | Annos Longos | Hic Sol Illuminet.
(Hours are short | Years are long | Here the sun shines).1
In the 1935 essay "The Lake Simcoe Country" Leacock
described his locale as being, "the frontier of the sunshine
..."
